residency

Sugarfield offers year round artist residencies, farmhand residencies, and retreat rentals to farm-enthusiastic and farm-curious folks interested in spending some time learning and creating on a working farm. Stay on the second floor of our 100 year old farmhouse with views to the east and west of our 9 acre sheep farm.  This floor is dedicated solely to residents and includes a bedroom and studio space.  The first floor is shared with Pony and SA and includes the kitchen, bathroom, and living room.  To get a feel for the farm, read our Sugarfield Guide to Farm Enjoyment. 

Artist Residencies provide a private space away from your daily life giving time and focus to dedicate to your craft. Work at your own pace with potential to show or share your work with one of our community art partners.
Length of Stay: 1-4 weeks
Cost: $250/wk

Arts and Agriculture Residencies provide an opportunity to be involved in the daily logistics of the farm, as well as plenty of dedicated time for artistic pursuits.
Length of Stay: 2-6 weeks
Exchange: 10hr/wk farm work

Farm Residencies give an immersive, hands-on experience with the daily operations of the farm including feeding and moving animals and field management. The farm work will be based on the seasonal ebb and flow of life on the farm. These positions are best suited to people that can safely lift 50 lbs. and are comfortable working in all-weather conditions. 
Length of Stay: 1-4 months
Exchange: 20hr/wk farm work, $20/hr pay 
First 5 hours are in exchange for room and board

Retreat Rentals are available for those who wish to have a sweet getaway and immerse themselves in the landscape without any farm responsibilities. 
Length of Stay: 1 night-2 weeks
Cost: $80/night
